English Premier League Preview: Week 36

It’s Week 36 of the English Premier League, we’re only three weeks away from the close of the season, but there’s a lot that could still happen before the fat lady sings and its curtain calls on it.

There’s Champions League places to fight for, Relegation Battles to play out, and most importantly, the title is still up in the air as Leicester City continue to fight for the title against all odds.

Here’s our preview of game-week 36 of the English Premier League:

1. Leicester City Can Win the League at Old Trafford

The Foxes can make their mark on Premier League history by being the first team to be on 20th position for most of the year, escape relegation by the skin of their teeth and then go on to win the title the very next season.

To make it sweeter, it’s could be at the home of the most successful team of the Premier League era: Manchester United.

Old Trafford is once again set to prove that it is the ‘Theatre of Dreams’, only this time around, it’s the dreams of the visiting teams that are going to be fulfilled. The last team to win the league at Old Trafford was Arsenal, and it looks like Claudio Ranieri’s Mahrez and Company are set to repeat that feat. Now that would be a truly special way to bring in their first EPL title!

2. Spurs Title Challenge Hanging by a Thread

Chelsea visit Tottenham Hotspurs, whose draw against West Brom means that they need to win all of their remaining matches and hope that Leicester City lose theirs, if they want to have any chance of lifting the Premier League Trophy. A big ask, especially since they have to host the defending Champions, who despite their horrific start to the season under Jose Mourinho, have managed to turn it around under Guus Hiddink, and have been on quite a run of form. A difficult London derby, as most derbies are wont to be, and both teams will be fighting tooth and nail for this one.

Spurs’ Dele Alli, who was recently awarded the PFA Young Player of the Year award will be regretting his decision to let his emotions get the better of him as he faces a 3 match ban for violent conduct till the end of the season. It may just have cost Spurs their first title in half a century!

3. Top 4 Meets Relegation Battle

Arsenal play host to Norwich at the Emirates, with the Gunners fighting for a top 4 spot and the chance to play in the Champions League for another year, while Norwich will be doing their best to stay away from the drop as the Relegation Battle heats up. This game could also mark the return of Arsenal’s Santi Cazorla, who was injured in the away fixture against Norwich, and whose absence has most probably cost the Gunners their first title in a decade.

Beyond this, there are a number of other exciting matches to watch out for as the season winds down to a glorious conclusion! See More
